June Boon helped start the ultrasound programs at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital in 1979. In 1980 she focused her interests on cardiac ultrasound and proceeded to publish normal echocardiographic reference ranges in dogs and cats. She received her graduate degree in Clinical Sciences at Colorado State University in 1984. She published the first and only reference book devoted to veterinary echocardiography in 1998. The new, 2011 edition of her textbook is a must for all who scan. Veterinarians worldwide come to Colorado State University to receive training in echocardiography from her.

Mark graduated from the University of Melbourne Faculty of Veterinary Science in 1987. He practiced for 4 years and then completed 2 residency programs (Internal Medicine at Washington State University and Cardiology at University of California, Davis). Along the way he obtained a MS (physiology). Mark is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in both Internal Medicine and Cardiology and his main interests are clinical research and cardiology, with a lot of scientific papers and book chapters published worldwide. He is one of the best known VIN Consultants. |

Dr Venco is a Milan University graduate, specialized in the small animal Cardiology field. He have been in collaboration with many Universities afterwards – in the USA (Athens GA, Davis CA, Philadelphia PA, Ft Collins CO) and in Japan (Gifu University, together with prof. Hitoshi Kitagawa). During his stay in Japan he specialized in heart worm extraction techniques in animals with a caval syndrome or class III HWD. Author of many scientific articles and several books in the field, he is well known as a cardiologist and parasitologist. Member of the American Heartworm Society and many other European and international organizations. He is a Diplomate of the European College for Veterinary Parasitology. As the leading member of the team in his private practice he is involved in many cardiology and cardio surgery cases. |

Dr. Christos Koutinas was born in Thessaloniki in 1976. He was admitted first in his class in the Veterinary Faculty of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, where he also worked as a post-graduate trainee and at the same time completed his Doctoral Thesis. He has trained in small animal cardiology, either as a post-graduate trainee (Royal Veterinary School of Edinburgh) or as a visiting professor (Colorado State University). He has translated two small animal cardiology manuals in Greek and has lectured extensively on the subject, both in Greece and abroad. For the past 12 years he has been handling cardiology cases, almost exclusively. His current research projects include troponin I concentrations in various infectious diseases, as well as blood pressure abnormalities in mitral valve degeneration. He is currently a lecturer in companion animal medicine, in the Companion Animal Clinic of the Veterinary Faculty in Thessaloniki. |
